Fractional CTO (AI-first)

I lead technology at quarter-time or half-time. Alongside the CTO decisions, I spend the first 30 days installing an agentic development workflow with your team and measuring whether delivery actually gets faster.

Who it’s for: For product companies with a technical team that need senior ownership of technology, but not a full-time CTO.

Not for companies shopping for the cheapest CTO-by-the-hour, a title for the investor deck, or advice with no decision authority.

You have AI tools. Technology still has no owner.

The founder approves architecture between sales calls and hiring. The team uses several coding assistants, each in a different way and with no measurement of the result. The roadmap grows, decisions keep coming back, and velocity stays flat. You need one person to own technology and change how the team ships.

( 02 )

What you get

  • Technology strategy and roadmap tied to company goals
  • Architecture, stack and vendor decisions with the reasoning recorded
  • A steady delivery cadence, risk review and team unblockers
  • Hiring profiles, technical interviews and hiring calls — when another hire is actually needed
  • An agentic workflow: issue → code → AI review → human approval
  • Repository instructions, issue templates and clear boundaries for agent autonomy
  • Before-and-after measurement: lead time, cycle time, throughput and delivery cost
( 03 )

How it runs

01Days 1–10We set CTO decision rights, baseline metrics, the state of the architecture and the places where the team loses the most time.
02Days 11–30I install the agentic workflow on real team tasks: repository instructions, work templates, AI review and approval rules.
03Months 2–3I lead the roadmap, architecture and delivery. We compare results with the baseline and fix what is not working.

When this role works

A fractional CTO needs:

a real mandate to make technology decisions
access to repositories, tools, costs and delivery data
a technical team willing to work from one shared workflow
an executive counterpart who can settle business priorities
( 05 )

What exists after the first 90 days

After one quarter, the company keeps concrete operating assets and numbers:

a technology roadmap and a record of the most important architecture decisions
a working AI-agent development workflow with explicit autonomy boundaries
a delivery dashboard comparing the baseline with the current result
a team and hiring plan based on actual bottlenecks

Before you book a call.

What does it cost and how long do we commit for?

€7,500 net per month at quarter-time (about 10 hours a week) or €12,000 at half-time (about 20 hours). Three months minimum, month-to-month afterwards — you can leave at any point.

How is this different from hiring a full-time CTO?

You get senior decisions and accountability without the cost and risk of a full-time hire, and you get them faster: recruiting a CTO takes months. If the quarter shows the company needs a full-timer, I write the profile and run the technical interviews.

What exactly happens in the first 90 days?

The first ten days are a review of technology, team and costs. By day thirty the agentic development workflow is running, with written autonomy boundaries. After a quarter you keep a technology roadmap, a record of architectural decisions, and before/after delivery metrics.

How many companies do you lead at once?

Two at quarter-time, or one at half-time. I’m not an agency and I don’t sell capacity I don’t have — which is why the open seats are counted and stated plainly on this page.

Do I have to hand over technology decisions?

Yes, that is the role: I make the decisions and answer for the outcome, so I need a real mandate and one person on the board to settle priorities with. If the decisions should stay on your side, Advisory from €1,000 net per month is the lighter option.

Fractional CTO or CPO — which one?

The CTO runs technology: architecture, team, delivery pace and cost. The CPO runs product: customer feedback, analytics, prototypes and the roadmap. If you know what to build but can’t ship it, take the CTO. If you ship well but the direction is unclear, take the CPO.

What’s next

After 90 days we make a simple call: continue month-to-month, reduce the scope to advisory, or hand the working system over to the team.

Need a CTO who also changes how the team ships?
